Arnette Lucille Harris, 87, was born on November 14, 1936, in her grandmother’s home in Sycamore, Kansas to parents Thelma and Lee Harris. She passed away peacefully on July 14, 2024, at Kiowa Hospital District Manor in Kiowa, Kansas.  She graduated from Benedict High School in 1954.  She married Harvey “Richard” Harris on “Flag Day” June 14, 1957.  Arnette and Richard lived in Winfield, Argonia, Medicine Lodge and Haysville, Ks before buying land west of Clearwater, Ks and building their own home.  They later bought a cabin at Anthony Lake and retired there together for many years. Arnette was a stay-at-home mom until the children were all in school, she then worked at the school as a cook, Mize IGA in Clearwater, Wilson’s in Wichita and retired from Cessna. She raised her children in the Nazarene Church in Clearwater serving as a Sunday school teacher and leader of the Pathfinder program for children.

Arnette is preceded in death by her parents Lee Harris and Thelma (Bolt) Harris, husband Richard Harris, sister Arlene Harris and brother Kirk.  She is survived by her children Dwight (Stephanie) Harris, Belle Plaine, Ks, Sondra (John) Ricker, Kiowa, Ks, Jean (Greg) Crum, Slidell, LA, Kelly (Lynn) Harris, Carrier, OK;  grandchildren and great grandchildren, Richard (Judy) Harris- Bristol; Robyn Davis-Jadein; Michael Davis; Aaron (Shelly) Crum-Zaylee, Kennedy and Hollyn; Dustin (Miranda) Crum- Cora Anne; Jared (Haley) Crum-Landon and Franklin; Michael Adams.

A Graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2024, 2:00 pm at Burden Cemetery, Burden, Kansas. A family gathering will be held after the graveside service at Island Park in Winfield, Ks

Baker Funeral Home in Valley Center is in charge of arrangements.
