Nona Mae Stiverson, 98, long time resident of Maize, passed away September 5, 2022 in Colwich. She was born in Blue Rapids, May 8, 1924, to Eldon and Ethel (Dutton) Weller.
A 1942 graduate of Blue Rapids, she worked in Wichita aircraft plants during WWII while her fiancé, Vernon Stiverson was fighting in Italy. Later, she spent time working as a grocery clerk, an office clerk and a stay-at-home mom. She was dedicated to family, church and community. She loved taking care of her flowers, writing poetry, supporting her family’s activities and was a big fan of the Shockers, Chiefs and Royals.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life and husband of 76 years Vernon, her parents, brother Bradford Weller, brother Richard Weller, sister Helen Cardey, twin sister Donna Nicks and granddaughter Jennifer D. (Stiverson) Germann.
She is survived by daughter Janis (Stiverson) Clements of Moore, OK, son Richard J. Stiverson (Debbie) of Maize, son Roger E. Stiverson (Cindy) of Wichita, 9 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Family visitation will be at the Monday, September 12th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.; Services will be Tuesday, September 13th at 10:30 a.m., both held at Maize United Methodist Church, 208 E. Academy, Maize. Graveside following at the Maize Park Cemetery, 12733 W. 53rd St. N., Maize.
