Police make arrest after man, woman shot in Lawrence

DOUGLAS COUNTY —Police in Lawrence continue to look for information, evidence, and leads into what led to a shooting in Lawrence.

Just after 9:30p.m. Thursday, police were called to report of a shooting near 16yh and Haskell, according to a media release from police.

First responders found a male and a female victim. Responding officers secured the scene and began a search for potential suspects. Officers utilized drones and K-9’s in the search, which included more than 40 Law Enforcement Professionals, with assistance from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Eudora Police Department, and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

Several people were brought in for questioning late into the evening. Investigators ultimately arrested a 19-year-old Lawrence man and booked him into the Douglas County Correctional Facility about 3:30 Friday morning.

The two victims were transferred by Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical responders to a nearby trauma center. Both victims are expected to fully recover from their injuries.
