
HUTCHINSON, Kan.—The Hutchinson Salthawk Boys Basketball team advanced to their sub-state championship game with a solid 53-37 victory over Salina Central at the Salthawk Activity Center (SAC) Wednesday night.
Hutchinson used a solid first half from senior Wade Meyer to build a 31-17 lead at the half. Hutch extended the lead by holding the Mustangs to just 3 field goals in the third quarter, then pulled away for the win to advance to the Saturday night championship game at 6 p.m.
Wade Meyer led the Hawks with 18 points followed up by Terrell King's 10 points. Dauntay King added six points, Julian Smith five, Garrett Robertson five, Bradyn Rodriquez four, Jay Lewis three, and Daylee VanSyckle two.
Ethan Waters led Salina Central with 19 points while Mason Nemecheck added six points.
Hutchinson (20-1) will host Topeka West (14-7) at the SAC on Saturday night at 6 p.m. for the sub-state championship. The winner on Saturday will advance to 5A state at Emporia next week.
