
Melinda L. “Mindy” Wills, 69, died September 29, 2023, at The Arbors at Waldron Place, Hutchinson. She was born July 22, 1954, in Arkansas City, to Don and Lawana (Wisdom) Thompson.
Mindy graduated from El Dorado High School in 1972, received her bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University, and her master’s degree from Wichita State University. She taught third grade over 30 years, mostly for Buhler Unified School District 313. Mindy enjoyed reading and watching the K-State Wildcats. Most of all, she loved and adored her five grandchildren, and spending time with family. Mindy was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Hutchinson.
On August 9, 1975, she married Jerry Wills, in El Dorado.
Mindy is survived by: her husband of 48 years, Jerry Wills of Hutchinson; daughter, Angela Flory (Joel) of Halstead; son, Andrew Wills (Elizabeth) of Windom; and her five precious grandchildren, Ashlynn Flory, Mya Flory, Addisen Wills, Jaxin Wills, and Stella Wills.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 6, 2023, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1602 N. Main, Hutchinson, with the Reverend Dr. Kim Biery officiating. Inurnment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may sign her book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and 9:00 to 8:00 Thursday, with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary. Cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Melinda Wills Memorial Fund (for distribution to organizations Melinda supported), in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
