Anna Marie “Annie” (Thimm) Schrag, 92, passed away at Pine Village, Moundridge, Kansas, on June 18, 2024. She was born to Henry and Anna (Claassen) Thimm on December 28, 1931, in Beatrice, Nebraska.

She attended Bethel College, Newton, Kansas, where she met Gordon K. Schrag and they were married August 31, 1953.

They were blessed with three children, Keith, Barbara and Julia. She participated in activities at the Eden Mennonite Church, and later at the First Mennonite Church in McPherson.

Annie was a substitute teacher, finished woodwork in new homes, cared for the elderly at The Cedars Home in McPherson, worked as a para in special education at McPherson High School, and assisted Gordon in his insurance office until they retired.

Her mother-in-law, Laura Schrag, taught her to embroider and she thoroughly enjoyed that hobby by making quilts, tea towels, etc., for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also made a scrap book for each grandchild when they graduated from high school, enjoyed playing piano, gardening, reading, and especially loved cooking delicious meals for her family.

Annie spent her last years with Gordon at Pine Village, Moundridge, Kansas, with a short stay at The Cedars in McPherson. For this she was very grateful and appreciated all the care and love she was given.

Survivors include her husband, Gordon Schrag of Pine Village; children: Keith Schrag (Connie) of Moundridge, Kansas, Barbara Mayo (Steve) of Hays, Kansas, and Julia Kaufman (Kevin) of McPherson, Kansas; grandchildren: Jeremy Schrag (Jaci), Rachel Schrag, Taylor Sechrist (Kevin), Robert Hill, Ryan Hill (Lacey), Jonathan Kaufman (Ted), Lindsay Vogts (Aaron), and Spencer Kaufman; 10 great grandchildren; and many other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Anna (Claassen) Thimm; sisters, Hildegard Jantzen, Martha Hunsicker and Ellen Esau.

The family will receive friends at Moundridge Funeral Home, 115 Cole St, Moundridge, KS 67107 on Sunday, June 23, 2024 from 4 to 6 p.m.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, June 24, 2024 at Eden Mennonite Church Cemetery with a celebration of life service to follow at 11 a.m. at Eden Mennonite Church, 401 18th Avenue, Moundridge, Kansas 67107.
