
RICE COUNTY, Kan. — Kansas Governor Laura Kelly and Transportation Secretary Calvin Reed on Thursday announced seven Expansion and Modernization highway projects that equal a total investment of more than $350 million have been committed to construction as part of the Kelly administration’s bipartisan 10 year, $10 billion Eisenhower Legacy Transportation Program, also known as IKE.
One of those projects is along U.S. Highway 56 in Rice County from Lyons to the Rice and McPherson County Line. The 14 mile, $15 million project slated for fiscal 2027 will add shoulders to the highway.
