2 charged for knife attack on Kansas City bus

KANSAS CITY —A Kansas City man and woman now have been charged in connection with a knife assault on Aug. 5, 2024, on a KCATA public bus as it ran its route with multiple passengers, according to Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker.

Shaunte L. Washington faces Assault in the 1st Degree and Mohummah S. Baker faces Assault in the 1st Degree.

According to court records, Washington boarded a KCATA bus and began wielding a knife and making threatening stabbing motions toward another female passenger. The victim confronted Washington and  Baker t struck the victim several times with a fist. Washington then began stabbing the victim. One stab wound severed an artery. 

Prosecutors asked for $75,000/10 percent bonds for each defendant..
