Samuel Eugene ‘Gene’ Schrock, 91, died May 22, 2024, at his home. He was born October 11, 1932, in Hutchinson, KS, to Samuel Schrock and Katie (Miller) Schrock.
Gene was an over-the-road truck driver. He enjoyed driving just about anything, from an eighteen-wheeler to a motorcycle. Gene and his wife Carol would jump on their motorcycle and travel the United States. When in the Hutchinson area, he could be found daily at the local truck stop sharing a cup of coffee with his buddies. Other than Gene’s family, his true love was his ‘hobby farm’ that he took great pleasure and pride in when he was there.
On December 27, 1953, Gene married Carol June Bontrager at the Yoder Mennonite Church, Yoder, KS. They shared over 70 years of marriage.
Gene is survived by: his wife, Carol Schrock of South Hutchinson, KS; children, Roger Schrock of San Angelo, TX, Jacque (John) Herdzina of Omaha, NE, Carla (Randy Vickers) of Wichita, KS, and Dee (Stewart) Terbush of Arcadia, OK; eleven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and sister, Doris Yoder of Michigan.
