
Adalbert Rudolph “Al” Fruehauf, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away on his 91st birthday on June 1, 2025 at the Hospice House of Hutchinson. He was born on June 1, 1934, to Erich and Hedwig (Hupe) Fruehauf of Hudson, KS.
Al served in the United States Army.
He worked for Rainbow Bakery in Hutchinson, retiring in 1993. Al later worked as a groundskeeper at the Highland Golf Course until 2014.
Al was united in marriage to Kathleen Marie “Kay” Chrystie on September 22, 1984 at the Nickerson First Christian Church. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include his daughter, Jody Gray of Timnath, CO; two grandchildren, Amanda (Zach) Chicoine of Timnath, CO, and Alexandra (Doug) Foley of Firestone, CO; four great-grandchildren, Olivia and Maya Chicoine, and Jett and Ava Foley; three sisters, Anniliese Ward of Great Bend, Hildagard Shewbart of Great Bend, and Elenora Putnam of Searcy, AR; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers-in-law, Sam Ward, Richard Shewbart, and Richard Putnam; and twin granddaughters, Anna and Sara Gray.
Family will greet friends at 10 a.m., Friday, June 6, 2025 at Ott Funeral Home, with funeral services to follow at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Arlington Cemetery, Reno County, KS.
