SOUTH HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Reno County Extension Service has reopened the application process for a new extension agent.

The agency thought it had the position filled when Lewis Crow was named the replacement for Darren Busick. He was to take on his new duties Jan. 10, but shortly after the first of the year, Crow told Kansas State University he was not taking the job in South Hutchinson and was going to work for the USDA.

The extension service says the application process will be ending soon and hopes to begin interviews soon.

Not long after Busick left, Kansas State University announced it was implementing a hiring freeze until June of 2021. At the urging of the extension service, officials were allowed to search out a new agent.

There is no timeline for when the agency will have the position filled.
