LYON COUNTY—A Kansas man died in an accident just after 11:30a.m. Friday in Lyon County.
Deputies were dispatched to the 100 Block of Road U in Lyon County for a bicycle accident involving one rider, according to Deputy Chuck Moore. First responders found 82-year-old Michael Welch of McPherson, unresponsive. CPR was started and he was declared deceased at the scene.
The sheriff's office said Welch was traveling downhill and entered a ditch. He was participating in the Unbound Gravel event in Lyon County. There were no other vehicles involved.
