Kingman Extension Office to hold wheat pre-planting meeting

K-STATE RESEARCH AND EXTENSION 

KINGMAN – Wheat growers in south-central Kansas are invited to attend a Wheat Pre-Plant Meeting hosted by K-State Extension – Kingman County on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2025, at 6 p.m. in the North Room of the Kingman Expo Center, 121 S. Main.

The featured speaker will be Logan Simon, Southwest Area Agronomist with K-State Research and Extension. Simon will discuss key topics to help producers prepare for the upcoming wheat season, including Wheat Streak Mosaic Virus, best management practices, variety selection, and optimal planting dates. A question-and-answer session will follow his presentation.

Attendees will gain practical insights on managing common wheat threats, choosing the right varieties for their fields, and improving volunteer wheat management strategies before planting.
