MCPHERSON, Kan. — Law enforcement took a report of a possible armed subject Tuesday at McPherson High School.
McPherson police said the incident began around 1:15 p.m. when the School Resource Officer (SRO) was notified that a student overheard another student say they saw someone outside McPherson High School with a gun/firearm.
The SRO notified McPherson County Emergency Communications, who notified McPherson law enforcement. The high school was placed on lockdown and McPherson Police Department officers and McPherson County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the school.
Officers and deputies searched the area outside and inside the high school, and did not find a suspect with a firearm. Officers and deputies remained at the high school until students were released and left the area.
The investigation into the initial incident is ongoing.
