HUTCHINSON, Kan. — How does the average cost of your monthly household bills in the city of Hutchinson stack up against similar cities in Kansas?
Not too bad, according to doxoINSIGHTS, which is a firm that studies consumer costs in everything from household costs to utility payments. The results came from the firm's recent report about comparative costs due to recent inflation. The study covered everything from auto loans, mortgages and insurance, to utilities and cable TV subscriptions.
Of the 18 like-cities in Kansas, with one having the highest monthly bills and 18 the lowest, Hutchinson ranks 16th with an average cost of $1,502 per month. Lawrence had the highest average at $1,721 per month, followed by Manhattan and Wichita. Coffeyville was the lowest at $1,409 per month.
One area where Hutchinson was above the national average was the cost of your monthly utilities. Hutchinson came in at $327 per month compared to the national average of $316. Life insurance, health insurance and your average car payments were also above the national average. Rent and mortgages were well below the national average.
Hutchinson, like most cities in Kansas, is also well below the national average of $1,889 per month. Kansas as a state was ranked 34th out of the 50 states.
