Bobbie ‘Bob’ Dale Woelk, 76, died peacefully October 23, 2022, at the Kansas Veterans Home, Winfield. He was born October 29, 1945, to Ronald V. Woelk and Marcie Marie (Friesen) Woelk, in Newton. Bob married the love of his life, Sachiko Baba, on February 20, 1967.
He served with the United States Navy during the Vietnam War from 1963 to 1966. Returning home to Hutchinson after serving, Bob was employed 35 years at the Hutchinson Salt Company (Carey Salt Mine) as a salt block mixer, where he was often referred to by his coworkers as “Mr. Dependable”.
He is survived by: his daughter, Kathy (Yassin) Jaafar of Dearborn, MI; grandson, Aliskander Jaafar; brothers, Darrell (Barbara) Woelk and Keith (Brenda) Woelk; and nephews, Matt Woelk, Paul Woelk, and Chad Woelk.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Sachiko.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at Buhler Municipal West Cemetery, Buhler, KS, with Pastor Tonya Ramer Wenger officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the United States Navy Honor Guard. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 25, 2022, and from 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at Elliott Mortuary.
