Naomi Sarah Loewen, 63, died July 3, 2024, at home, surrounded by her family. She was born January 28, 1961, in Philadelphia, PA, to George Corson and Jane Louise (Good) Durchsprung.
Naomi graduated from Cedar Grove Academy, Philadelphia, PA, in 1979, Central College, McPherson in 1981, and Tabor College, Hillsboro in 1983, with a bachelor’s degree in computer information systems. On June 2, 1984, she married James Mark Loewen, in Philadelphia, PA.
Naomi worked as the billing coordinator for Mennonite Friendship Communities, South Hutchinson, and Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community, Buhler. Previously, she ran her own daycare and was a basketball official for middle school, high school and recreational leagues.
In addition, Naomi enjoyed sewing, cross-stitching, and playing card and table games. She was a member of Union Valley Bible Church, Hutchinson, and taught Sunday School for two-and three-year-olds (which was her favorite age to teach). Above all, Naomi loved being a grandmother to her two grandsons.
Naomi is survived by: her husband of 40 years, James of Hutchinson; daughters, Sarah Loewen of Hays and Joanna Trapp (Nolan) of McPherson; sister, Ruth Goss (Scot) of Knoxville, TN; brother, Mark Durchsprung (Denise) of Lansdowne, PA; grandsons, Jaxson and Parker; and her in-laws, Albert and Martha Loewen of Hesston.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Matthew James Loewen.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at Union Valley Bible Church, 1916 E. 30th, Hutchinson, with Pastors Matt Chapin and Steve Hodgson officiating. Graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in Springfield Cemetery, Goessel, KS. Friends may call from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday and 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary.
