Mona Chantel Toney, 22, passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 in Wichita, KS. She was born December 22, 2000, in Pittsburg, KS, the daughter of Phillip Simpson II and Rica (Toney) Simpson.
Mona loved to sing. She participated in choir where she received numerous awards for group choir and solos. She was a jokester, always cracking a joke to make someone laugh or smile. Mona was a good story teller, and would always over exaggerate a story to make it even better. She was firecracker and didn’t tolerate too much of anything, but most of all she was very loving. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Mona was preceded in death by her grandmother, Monica Toney and great grandfather, Alphonso Toney Jr.
She is survived by her father, Phillip Simpson II; mother and step-father, Rica Simpson and Hashiem Ford; eight siblings, Phillip Simpson III, Kamora Manuel, Addison Manuel, Jamie Ford, DeMonte Simpson, Hashiem Ford, Amira Simpson and Amara Simpson; grandmother, Candace Ford; great grandfather, Richard Logan Sr.; great grandmother, Lillian Terry, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 3, 2023, at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave, Hutchinson, KS with Pastor Candace Ford officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with family present from 4:00-6:00 p.m. The family has asked that memorials be made out to Rica to help offset funeral expenses and can be sent in care of the funeral chapel.
