HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Crime Stoppers of Reno County received two national awards for its television and social media outreach during Crime Stoppers USA’s 50th anniversary national conference in Crystal City, Virginia.
The organization was recognized for a television public service announcement produced in partnership with KWCH-TV. It also received a Social Media Award for an approach that increased public awareness, community engagement and support for the Crime Stoppers mission.
Both initiatives were led by board member Megan Clary, the organization’s social media and publicity chair.
Hutchinson residents Elaine Cloyd and Jackie Ashcraft represented Crime Stoppers of Reno County and the Kansas Crime Stoppers Association at the conference, held at the Hyatt Regency.
Cloyd, a member of the Crime Stoppers USA Board of Directors and a conference presenter, also received one of the organization’s inaugural Impact Awards.
Cheryl Sinacola, chair of the national organization’s board, said the Chairman’s Choice honor recognizes people whose contributions extend beyond their local communities. Recipients have devoted their experience and expertise to advancing Crime Stoppers programs and the mission of solving crimes through anonymous tips.
The recognition highlights the work of Reno County volunteers and their law enforcement and media partners, along with the county’s contributions to Crime Stoppers at the local, state, national and international levels.
