SALINA —A Kansas woman died in a pedestrian accident just before 3:30p.m. Wednesday in Salina.
According to a media release from Salina police, a 2000 Chevy Tahoe driven by a juvenile was stopped on Elm Street, westbound, waiting to turn south on 9th Street. At the same time the pedestrian, identified as a 41-year-old resident of Salina , waited to cross 9th Street along the south side of Elm in the crosswalk, according to the media release.
When the light for Elm Street turned green and the pedestrian walk light changed both proceeded. The SUV struck the pedestrian.
Saline Fire and EMS transported the pedestrian to Salina Regional Health Center where she later died from her injuries. The name of the driver and the details of issued citations will not be released due to their age.
