
BARTON COUNTY —A Kansas woman is under investigation for an alleged gun crime involving the father her her child.
Just before 6p.m. November 27, police were dispatched to a report of shots fired the 400 block of Evergreen in Great Bend, according to a media release.
Officers contacted the victim who advised that he had been involved in an argument with the mother of his child, and that during the argument, the suspect, 39-year-old Melissa Sanders produced a handgun and fired in the direction of the victim.
The victim left the scene and contacted the Police Department. Officers were able to locate Sanders driving east of Great Bend and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. The Officers were able to locate the firearm used in the incident inside of the vehicle. Sanders was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Barton County jail on requested charges of Aggravated Assault.
