SALINA, Kan. — The Hutchinson Salthawk baseball team dropped a pair of games to Salina South on Tuesday, losing 3-2 (8 innings) in the first game before falling 5-0 in the nightcap.

The Salthawks struck first in game one on a solo home run off the scoreboard from Caiden Beavers to put Hutch on the board. Salina South got their own home run from Garrett Aillis in the bottom of the third to take a 2-1 lead.
Hutchinson tied the game at two apiece in the sixth on an RBI single up the middle from Lakin Franz.
The game went to extras tied at two. Salina South took advantage of a wild pitch in the bottom of the eighth inning to walk-it-off and earn the 3-2 win.
Three Salthawks collected two hits apiece, including Cole Bleything, Carter Morgan and Franz. Morgan suffered the loss on the mound after Jack Davis got the start and went 6.1 innings, striking out six Cougars.
The Salthawks struggled at the plate in the second game against Salina South starter Kaden Budke. Budke held the Salthawks in check, allowing just two hits and striking out seven in a complete-game shutout.
Salina South scored two runs in the first inning, two more in the third and one in the fifth.
Hutchinson falls to 0-10 overall and 0-8 in AVCTL-I play. The Salthawks will travel to Goddard on Friday for a doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m. and can be heard on Hutch Post.com.
