HUTCHINSON, Kan. — According to a Monday email sent to Hutch Post, the completion of the Woodie Seat Freeway Phase 1 is just a few weeks away.
Justin Karam, Construction Manager for the City of Hutchinson, said that the current tentative opening date for the Woodie Seat is July 1, but that is subject to weather.
South Hutchinson City Administrator Jeff Schenk said at Monday night’s city council meeting that he’d like to see Woodie Seat open a few days earlier.
“I’m going to call them tomorrow and ask them to see if they can open it the Friday before because I really would like that to open on the 28th,” Schenk said. “And if it opens on the 29th, it would be really handy for people.”
This is the completion of Phase 1. Phase 2 is out for engineering work and will likely begin in the 2025 construction season.
