
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The unemployment rate in Reno County rose for the month of August 2023.
According to the Kansas Department of Labor, the jobless rate for the county went up one tenth of one percent to 3.5%. The jobless rate for the same period in 2022 was 3.4%.
There were 1,016 county residents out of work.
Preliminary estimates reported by the Labor Market Information Services (LMIS) division of the Kansas Department of Labor (KDOL) and the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) show a seasonally adjusted unemployment rate of 2.7% in August. This is unchanged from 2.7% in July and a decrease from 2.8% in August 2022.
Seasonally adjusted job estimates for Kansas indicate total nonfarm payroll employment decreased by 4,100 from July. Total nonfarm includes private sector and government employers. Private sector jobs decreased by 2,700 over the month, while government decreased by 1,400.
