James W. Hett, better known as Jim, went to his heavenly home, Sunday, May 12, 2024 from his home near Aulne, KS. with his loving wife, Carol, of almost 72 years and his daughter and husband by his side. He was the ninth of ten children born to John and Rena (Conyers) Hett. He was preceded in death by 2 sons, Tim and Rob, 2 sisters, Iva Unruh, and Ellen Darrow, 6 brothers: Ron, Russ, Tom, Ern, Walt, John and infant sister, Edith. Family members include: daughter, Kimberly Metcalf and husband Michael of Kansas City Kansas, Mirandee Hett of Marion. Also Collene McDonald, Emporia. 4 grand children: Valeree Ware, Adam Hett, July Read, Austin Metcalf, and 6 grandchildren: Bryden, Camryn, DeClan and Brooks Ware, Florence and Charles Read, and Bennet Hett. Also two sister in laws: Darlene (Jim) Hiebert, St. Augustine, Florida and LaWanda Oblander, Newton, KS.
He lived his entire life in the Aulne Community, attending The Aulne Church every Sunday, as long as he was able; singing, teaching, and sometimes even preaching. He attended Aulne Grade School, and graduated from Marion High School with the class of 1945. On May 25, 1952 he married Carol Oblander. They established their home just a mile from where he was born, and together they raised three children, Tim, Kim, and Rob. Was a busy life with farming, livestock, shearing sheep, caterpillar construction work, working at John-Mansville in McPherson, and serving on many positions in church and community. He was always thankful for what he had and firmly believed in counting his blessings. He loved singing, memorizing scripture, and reading. Memorial services are planned for Saturday, May 18. With burial at 10:00 A.M. at Marion Cemetery with church service following at Aulne Bible Church 11:00 A.M.
