Eugene Kay (Gene) Housholder, 81, of McPherson, KS, passed away Thursday, November 16, 2023 at his home.
Gene was born in rural Scandia, Kansas on January 12, 1942, the son of the late Paul Erwin and Helen Virgie (Johnson) Housholder.
Gene attended Union Valley District 39 country school and graduated from Belleville High School, Belleville, Kansas in 1959.
Through the years Gene worked for Riners RV, Rusty Eck RV, Augusta RV and Adventure RV, all of the Wichita area. Gene was the owner and operator of G.H. Electric of McPherson, Bypass Repair Shop, and did installation of siding.
During his high school years, Gene belonged to F.F.A.. Later in life, he was a member of, and a board member of the S.O.S.. He was also a member of the South Main A.A. group and Firehouse A.A.
Gene K. Housholder was united in marriage to Dru K. (Brantley) Romme on September 8, 1975 in Lindsborg, Kansas. This union was blessed with a son, Dan and Dru's son and daughter, Michael and Dawn.
He is survived by his wife, Dru Housholder of McPherson, Kansas; sons, Ron Murdock of Houston, Texas, Darold (Christina) Housholder, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Dan (Tonya) Housholder of Salina, Kansas, Mike (Danielle) Romme of Kingman, Kansas; daughter, Dawn Spainhour of McPherson, Kansas; sister, Linda Jamison, of Louisville, Kentucky; grandchildren, Elizabeth Spainhour, Caden Spainhour, Seth Spainhour, Sheridan Spainhour, Nicole Romme, Donald Romme, Cordell Housholder, Sydney Housholder, Brittnany Elliott, Billie Jean Coyle, Brantley Housholder and Audrina Lewis; great grandchildren, Jayce Gunn, Dylan Gunn and Grayce Gunn; and special friends, Peaches, Michael and Dawn Lewis; other relatives, many nieces and nephews and host of friends.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter Carol Jean Housholder; a brother, Donald Housholder; and a sister, Marge Klabzuba.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, November 20, 2023 at Glidden-Ediger-Wiggins Chapel, McPherson, Kansas.
Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at Glidden - Ediger-Wiggins Chapel in McPherson, Kansas with Pastor Lynn Scott officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to A.A. and Gentiva Hospice of McPherson and can be sent to Glidden-Ediger-Wiggins Funeral Home, 222 W. Euclid, McPherson, Kansas 67460.
