YODER, Kan. — Yoder is holding their 23rd Annual Parade of Quilts this month.
People will have the opportunity to visit eight Yoder community locations through a self-guided tour to see and purchase unique quilts.
“We have more quilts than we’ve had any other year before,” Linda Miller, with Yoder Furniture Company and lead coordinator of the event, said. “We probably have, I don’t have a final count, but we’re looking at probably 160 quilts.”
The hand-stitched quilts are weaved together by craftspeople not just from the Yoder community but also by people from Amish and Mennonite communities from around the U.S.
“We get a lot from Wisconsin, New York, Ohio, some from Missouri, and some local ones as well,” Miller said.
One-of-a-kind quilts of various patterns and design will be displayed at these participating businesses throughout Yoder. Their locations and hours are as follows:
Carriage Crossing Restaurant and Bakery is located at 10002 S. Yoder Rd. and is open 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
Yoder Furniture Company is located at 3405 Switzer Rd. and is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday
Yoder Meat is located at 3509 Switzer Rd. Suite ½ and is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
Grace & Garment Boutique is located at 9807 Main St. and is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
Yoder Treasures and Treats is located at 9807 Main St. Suite B and is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
Yoder Thrift Shop is located at 9815 Main St. and is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
Yoder Discount Grocery is located at 3518 E Red Rock Rd. and is open 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.
R & E Country Store is located at 12304 Obee Rd. and is open 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
Miller said the quilts on the parade range in price from $525 to $3,120.
“The quilts are in on consignment, so the majority of the quilt price will go back to the person that submitted the quilt,” Miller said.
People can pick up a parade route brochure from any of the participating businesses for a listing of each quilt and where to find it on the self-guided tour.
