Robert ‘Bob’ Dean Garland, age 72, passed away Sunday, March 22, 2026, at his home in Hutchinson. He was born December 19, 1953, in Ames, IA, to Robert Richard and Marjorie Kathryn (Flynn) Garland.
Bob graduated from Ames High School in 1972. Throughout his life, he dedicated himself to working in construction as a project coordinator for George Rolfes in Boone, IA, Borton Construction in Hutchinson, KS, Wilson Design Builders in Brook, Indiana, and ZFS Ithaca, in Ithaca, MI.
Bob loved tinkering with cars and enjoyed constructing various projects in his spare time. He also enjoyed exploring computer technology. Primarily, he found that his most cherished moments were created alongside his beloved family.
On October 13, 1973, he married Lu Ann Kay Brentnall, in Ames, IA. They shared over 52 years of marriage.
Robert was survived by: his loving wife, Lu Ann Garland; children, Kathyrn Garland, and MGySgt Robert (Samantha) Garland; grandchildren, Connor Garland, Kyra Calara, Kaylee Calara, Bobby Garland, Mauree Garland, and Keira Kincheloe; sister, Linda (Steve) Michalicek; brothers, Chuck Garland and Sean Garland; and former daughter-in-law, Jennifer Garland.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Leanne Beachler.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at Elliott chapel. Friends may sign his memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. until service day at Elliott Mortuary.
