Joan Elaine Wegele, 77, of McPherson, KS, passed away at 5:25 am, Sunday, February 18, 2024 at McPherson Health And Rehab, McPherson, KS.
Joan was born in Logan, Iowa on August 21, 1946, a daughter of Achsa (Dishon) and Kenneth Chichester, of Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Joan attended the Logan and Missouri Valley, Iowa grade schools and graduated from Council Bluffs High School, Council Bluffs, Iowa in 1964.
She was a member of New Gottland Lutheran Church.
Through the years Joan worked as a waitress for The Plaza, Sirloin Stockade, Red Coach, McPherson, Kansas. She then worked as a delivery person for McPherson Sentinel until she retired.She was a member of the Boy Scouts of America and Gently Aged Ladies Quilting in McPherson, Kansas.
Joan enjoyed quilting, exercising and spending time with her friends and family.
Joan E. Chichester was united in marriage to Clarence L. Wegele on April 8, 1968 at McPherson, Kansas.
She is survived by her children, Christina Koch, Newton, KS. and David Wegele(Kim), of Windom, Kansas; her sisters, Jean Squier and Shirley McNeley, of Missouri Valley, IA.. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Francis, George, Virginia, Marilyn, Norma, Lois and Carolyn.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Sunday, February 25, 2024 at Glidden - Ediger - Wiggins Chapel in McPherson, KS.
Service will be held 10:30 AM on Monday, February 26, 2024 at Glidden - Ediger - Wiggins Chapel in McPherson, KS with Pastor Laura Smith officiating.
