
Carol J. Pettay, 88, of Hutchinson, died January 31, 2024, at his home. He was born July 8, 1935, in Byron, OK, to Rufus R. and Ruth (Miller) Pettay.
Carol served in the United States Army and was a hardworking truck driver for 28 years for both Dillons and Graves Trucking. In his free time, he enjoyed playing pool, especially with his wife, Ramona. Carol and Ramona would occasionally travel to Las Vegas to compete in pool tournaments.
On September 7, 1957, he married Ramona L. McDaniel. They shared over 47 years of marriage before her passing on September 18, 2004.
Carol is survived by: son, Larry Pettay (Debra Musfelt) of Ohiowa, NE; grandson, Joshua Pettay (Jennifer) of Hutchinson; brothers, Jack Pettay (Viola) and Everett Pettay, all of Hutchinson; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; wife; and son, Michael Pettay; siblings, Hilda Pettay, Elgie Pettay, Carl Pettay, James Donald Pettay, Vern Pettay, and Mary Lou Walden.
Graveside service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Eastside Cemetery, 500 South Cleveland, Hutchinson, with military honors conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard. Friends may sign his book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
