
RUSSELL COUNTY —Kansas experienced a rare September tornado outbreak Wednesday evening. The National Weather Service received as many as a dozen tornado reports.
The tornadoes were reported in Pawnee, Barton, Russell and Lincoln counties. There were two confirmed tornadoes in Barton County just south of the Russell County line, according to Sheriff Brian Bellendir. The National Weather Service issued tornado warnings in many other areas.
Other than fences down there are no reports of damage or injuries. Portions of Lincoln County reported 6.15 inches of rain from the storm on Wednesday. A record amount.
