Today's "Throwback Thursday Collection" takes us to the 1300 block of East Avenue A on the north side.

The building at 1326 E. Ave. A was built originally as the 4 S Razor Blade Factory in 1916. It was only able to stay viable until 1918.

It was then that J.D. Conard, President of the Salt City Business College, had an innovative idea. He started the Hutchinson Auto and Tractor School there as a satellite campus. The first photo shows the architectural renderings for that endeavor.

It was right next door to the Massey-Harris Manufacturing Plant that produced combines and tractors, so the two worked in tandem. The second photo shows the school with all its students and instructors out front in 1920.

This endeavor only lasted until 1921, that's when Massey-Harris took over the building. Fast forward to 1970, that's when Martinez & Sons Machine Shop took over the building. The third photo shows that business, which was there until 1993.

That's when Interfaith Housing purchased the building. The fourth photo shows the 1326 E. Ave. A building today, still the Interfaith Housing & Community Services Inc. with Clint Nelson serving as President and Chief Executive Officer.
