USD 308 taking applications for vacant board seat

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The USD 308 Board of Education is accepting applications from community members who would like to be considered for the vacant board member position.

The board member appointed to fill the vacancy will serve from June 12, 2023 through Jan. 8, 2024.

The school board will review all applications and select candidates to interview. Selected candidates will be interviewed at the June 12 Board of Education meeting. Applicants must be present to be considered.

“We encourage all community members who are passionate about education and committed to our schools to consider applying for this important position,” Kail Denison, USD 308 Board of Education president, said.

The school board is responsible for governing the district and ensuring that schools provide the best possible education for students. As a member of the school board, this individual will have the opportunity to shape policies, advocate for students and schools, and work with educators, staff, and community members to achieve USD 308’s goals. 

Applications are available at the USD 308 Administration Center or may be requested by email from [email protected].

Interested community members must complete and sign an application and return it to Jamie Brown, clerk of the Board of Education, at 1520 N. Plum St. in Hutchinson by noon on May 17.

Applications may be delivered in-person, sent by USPS mail, correct postage prepaid, or sent by email addressed to [email protected]. Applications sent by USPS mail must be received by 5 p.m. on May 16.

To be eligible for appointment to the Board of Education, applicants must be at least 18 years of age, a resident of the district and registered to vote in Reno County. The position is unpaid.
