HUTCHINSON, Kan. — HutchCC Athletic Director Josh Gooch is pleased with how the annual Blue Dragon golf tournament fundraiser is coming together.
"This is our opportunity as Blue Dragons and the Blue Dragon fan base, Blue Dragon nation, those that care about Blue Dragon sports to sign up, play in our golf tournament," said Athletic Director Josh Gooch. It's super affordable, but it's also just one of those days that my staff loves. I know that the people that play in this event look forward to it each year."
The tournament will be Friday, May 5, with a 10 a.m. shotgun start.
"Our institution does a really nice job of providing us scholarship dollars," Gooch said. "These are the dollars that go above and beyond, as the NJCAA has allowed us to now offer scholarships for housing and meals. These are the scholarships that go above and beyond and help pay for those things."
It's important for the recruiting efforts of HutchCC that they are able to recruit well beyond just central Kansas.
"It does allow us to have program-wide resources to go and attract the top talent," Gooch said. "We can attract them. We have to be able to provide them with the equal scholarship that maybe they are being offered at other institutions."
