MBB: No. 18 Dragons use OT to snap skid

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — No. 18 Hutchinson (19-6, 13-6) needed overtime to snap a three-game skid.

The Dragons were once again without leading scorer Angelo Stuart, but got a big boost from Kobe Campbell and Jacquez Yow.

Campbell poured in 25 points off the bench and Yow added 23.

The Dragons took a 50-44 lead at halftime over Colby (14-10, 9-9).

At the break, HutchCC presented a $10,010 check to the Cancer Council of Reno County on the 10th annual Pink Out Night.  

Every three made by the men's and women's teams also added to that total. The teams made 22 total and fans pledged nearly $200 per made triple.

The athletic department will have a total once all pledges are finalized, but an estimate after the game had the total donation around $11,320. Fans also donated money for special Pink Out shirts. 

Colby shot 56.3% in the second half to push Hutchinson into OT. J.J. White hit a corner three with 0.9 seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 92-all. The tough shot came after two misses from distance for White on separate trips under two minutes to go.

In OT, Hutchinson made good on 4 of 9 attempts while Colby converted just 2 of 6 opportunities. 

Colby took the early overtime lead after its  only made three of the extra frame. The Dragons battled back behind a Yow And-1. Tyrone Marshall fouled out on the play and finished with 13 points, six rebounds and six assists. 

Yow followed up the three-point play with a thunderous putback dunk. 

With 2:36 to play, the dunk put Hutchinson up for good.

Yow took a charge with 52.8 seconds left that gave the Dragons the ball back with a one-point lead.

Kaimen Lennox then scored two of his 12 points on the next possession to put Hutchinson up 102-99.

Colby took a timeout with 18 seconds left and set up a chance to tie. An Ahmad Galimore three came up short and Hutchinson iced the game at the line. 

FINAL: Hutchinson 104 Colby 99 - OT

White scored 26 for Colby and Ahmad Johnson added 23 before fouling out.

Nate Goodlow scored 12 for Hutchinson. 

Yow finished with a double-double, 23 points and 12 rebounds.
