HUTCHINSON, Kan — The No. 9 Blue Dragons (1-0) opened the season Tuesday night in the Sports Arena against the Bethany College JV.
Hutchinson led by just nine after one quarter of action.
A 13-0 run to start the second quarter kicked things into gear as Hutchinson rolled to an 88-44 victory.
Mya Williams led the Blue Dragons with 21 points on 8 of 17 shooting. She knocked down three triples.
Hutchinson got another 19 from newcomer Monae Duffy. She also pulled down six rebounds.
Returner Kali Howard finished with a double-double, 11 points and 10 boards.

Hutchinson shot 48% from the floor and held Bethany to 25.8%. Bethany made just 5 of 26 three-point attempts (19.2%).
The Dragons lost the ball just 10 times while forcing the Swedes into 21 turnovers.
The Dragons assisted on 22 of 36 made baskets. Six Dragons notched three assists each (Armstead, Duffy, Williams, Johnson, Horyna and Te Nana-Williams).
Kassi Ballard paced Bethany with 13 points.
