
Peggy Lois Black-Pianga, 95, passed away on Friday, August 18, 2023 in Wichita, Kansas. She was born in Beggs, Oklahoma to John Riley Hill and Ruth Eldora Robertson. Lois was a life-long resident of Valley Center. For many years she owned and operated Craft Corner in Valley Center and Wichita. She loved crafts especially oil painting and crochet work. In her earlier years she baked and decorated birthday and wedding cakes for the people of Valley Center and surrounding communities.
Taken from Lois’s autobiography written 1999 -
“Even before I had children, I became a Brownie and Girl Scout leader. My church work included teaching a 4th grade class, serving in Sunday School nursery, financial secretary, circle chairman. Bazaar chairman, and vacation bible school chairman. Keeping busy and making things was always what I did. I guess I inherited the crafty side from my mother. I was always sewing things. I have also been active in the Extension Homemakers United and Sugar Bells Cake Club.”
She is preceded in death by her son David T. Black, grandson Bradley Mullinax, granddaughter Jennifer Ann Black Tucker, her parents John and Ruth Hill, sisters Glenna Woodruff and Ruth Rahm, and her brother John R. Hill Jr. ‘Bud’.
Lois is survived by her husband Marty “Goose” Pianga; daughter Nakala Akasie aka ‘Jackie’ Black Mullinax and husband Raymond Fuller of California; daughter-in-law Kim Black; grandchildren Dayton and wife Ashley Black, Dylan, Kelsey Black-Owens and husband Parker Owens, Kylie Black Vining and husband Braden Vining, Stacy Mullinax, William D. Mullinax; great grandchildren Ethan Lingo, Jacob Tucker, Kaydence Ward, Jackson Black, Issac, Alexis, Samuel, Annabel Mullinax, Skylah Mullinax, Luna Black, Tabor Owens, Laban Owens, Piper Vining, Lakyn Vining; many other family and friends.
