The USD 308 Board of Education is losing a long time member. Tad Dower has been on the board for the past eight years but has decided to step away from the position.
At the conclusion of the regularly scheduled Board of Education meeting, staff, family and community members helped celebrate the retirement of Dower.
“Hutchinson Public Schools thanks Tad Dower for his years of service and his commitment to the students, staff and USD 308 community,” Mike Folks, superintendent of USD 308 said.
In addition to the retirement celebration, McCandless student leaders greeted Board of Education members before the meeting and took them on a tour of their school, accompanied by staff and teachers.
McCandless Elementary transitioned to the name McCandless Leadership Academy this school year, and has implemented leadership curriculum from Leader In Me, as well as encouraged social-emotional skills from The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Students by Steven Covey.
