Donna Mae Nickel, 86, of Moundridge, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at the Moundridge Manor. She was born on January 22, 1938 in Newton, Kansas, to Herby and Elva (Yost) Wenger.
She was a member of the Garden View Mennonite Church in rural Halstead.
Donna was a devoted homemaker.
She was united in marriage to Jerry Wayne Nickel on February 17, 1963 in Hesston, Kansas. They lived most of their married life on a farm near Burns, Kansas. After retiring, they lived in Jonesboro, Arkansas before moving to Moundridge.
Donna is survived by her husband of 61 years, Jerry Nickel of Moundridge; son, Marlin (Janet) Nickel of Sunray, TX; daughters, Karen (Stewart) Koehn of Burns, and Joan (Galen) Smith of Trumann, AR; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, Vernon (Carol) Wenger of Raleigh, NC, and Merle (Lena) Wenger of Newton; sister, Carolyn Wenger of Newton; sister-in-law, Lois Wenger of Newton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Weldon Wenger; and three infant grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 19, 2024 at Garden View Mennonite Church, rural Halstead. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m., Thursday, July 18, at the Moundridge Funeral Home, with family greeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church.
