
COFFEYVILLE, Kan. — The Blue Dragons fell behind early en route to a 90-68 loss on Wednesday inside Nellis Hall at No. 18 Coffeyville.
Hutchinson (15-10, 9-10 KJCCC) never had a lead in the game, as the hot-shooting Red Ravens set and controlled the tempo for the entire 40 minutes. Coffeyville shot 53 percent from the floor, while knocking down nine three-pointers in the process.
The Blue Dragons knocked down 40 percent of their shots, but the big discrepancy in the contest was the foul shots. Coffeyville got to the free throw line 23 times in the game, knocking down 17 of those, while Hutchinson got to the line just eight times, connecting on five.
Aaron Franklin led Hutchinson in scoring with 17 points. He pulled down six rebounds. Dadrevius Weathers chipped in 11 and Steele Gaston-Chapman finished with 10 for the Blue Dragons.
Hutchinson committed 14 turnovers in the game, leading to 17 Red Raven points. Coffeyville finished with 11 turnovers, but the Blue Dragons only turned the miscues into five points.
The Blue Dragons return to the Sports Arena on Saturday when they host No. 14 Dodge City (18-6, 14-4). Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
