
Ruby Pearl Jacques, 100, of Hutchinson, went home to be with her Lord on August 10, 2025, at Pleasant Hills. She was born March 9, 1925, in Hutchinson, to Henry E. and Minnie C. (Luginbill) Smith.
Ruby graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1943. Her parents were the founders and original owners of Smith’s Market in Hutchinson. Ruby was a devoted farm wife and mother and loved to bake and raise flowers. She was active in the South Hutchinson United Methodist Church and helped with the pies at their café at the Kansas State Fair for many years. Ruby also enjoyed camping and was a member of the Red Hat Society.
On November 5, 1944, she married Robert L. Jacques in South Hutchinson. He died September 10, 2008.
Ruby is survived by: her sons, Gary Jacques (Cindy) of Tarpon Springs, FL, Tom Jacques of Bozeman, MT, Ron Jacques (Vickie) of Hutchinson, Mark Jacques (Sharon) of Rensselaer, IN, Troy Jacques (Lisa) of Hutchinson; 22 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and many extended family members.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; grandson, Aryn Jacques; daughter-in-law, Cathy Jacques; siblings, Virgil Smith, Joye Brinkmeyer, Oma Decker, Emadae Wright, June Burns, Mary Burns, and twin sister, Ruth Spivey.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at Elliott Chapel. Burial will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery, Darlow. The service will be livestreamed and the link below will be active beginning at 9:45 a.m. the day of the service.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., with the family present to receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary.
