HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Competitions are the heart of the Kansas State Fair. And for 2022, there will be some new things to test your skills. The complete 2022 competitions list is now available on the state fair's Facebook page.
Some of the new competitions include the best tasting tomatoes and a corn shucking contest. There’s also a contest for the best beef jerky, tablescaping and tie-dyed shoes. Back again this year is the best salsa contest, the Curly's BBQ sauce contest and the best homemade ice cream and topping.
The changes made last year remain in place for this year with additional information for each classification available online May 1, 2022. Entries will be due by July 25 again this year, which is much earlier than has been tradition. The deadline was moved up last year. That and people still not sure about entering items left the fair with few entries and little food on display.
If you need more information about entries, call the fair at 620-662-3600.
