Homicide: Woman shot, dies in Kansas City street

KANSAS CITY—Law enforcement are investigating a third homicide this week Kansas City, Missouri.

Just after 1p.m. Thursday, patrol officers were dispatched to a shooting near 28th and Wabash, according to KCPD Sergeant Phil DiMartino.

As officers arrived they located a victim later identified as 38-year-old Annie R. Walker, in the street, suffering from gunshot wounds. KCFD EMS responded to the scene and pronounced her deceased. 

This is being investigated as a homicide. A subject of interest was taken into custody by responding officers. The preliminary investigation revealed there was an altercation between multiple individuals in the street prior to shots being fired and Walker being struck. 

Detectives and crime scene technicians are on scene canvassing for witnesses, reviewing surveillance footage, and recovering any physical evidence.
