๐Ÿ€ Salthawk basketball teams split with Eisenhower Tuesday

HUTCHINSON, Kan.โ€”The Hutchinson High basketball teams split with Goddard Eisenhower at the Salthawk Activity Center on Tuesday night with the Lady Tigers owned the 4th quarter to pull away from Hutchinson to win 55 to 44.

The Hutch High boys continued their winning ways with a 75 to 58 victory over Eisenhower in the late contest.

GIRLS RECAP

It was the final 2:07 of the 4th quarter with Eisenhower leading 42 to 40 when Hutchinson, who had possession of the ball, was hit with a technical foul on the Salthawk bench that proved costly. The Tigers promptly hit 2 free throws, plus received possession of the ball and then put together a 13 to 2 run to close out the game 55 to 44.

That play ended up being a potential 6 point turnaround and Eisenhower handed the Salthawks only their 4th defeat of the season. 

Hutch was led by Senior guard Josie McLean with 12 points including back to back 3 point shots in the first quarter. Aliyah Greed added 11 and Grace Posch had 8. Libby Jackson chipped in 7 and Hannah Ames with 6 points rounded out the Salthawk scoring.

Eisenhower was led by shooting guard Addison Verbeck's 23 points including going 8 for 8 from the line for the night and hitting two key 3 point baskets in the 4th quarter to seal the win.

 Eisenhower goes to 10-5 with the win and the Salthawks drop to 11-4. Hutchinson hosts Maize on Friday night at the SAC.

BOYS RECAP

Hutch High got another monster night out of Garrett Robertson with six 3 pt baskets from the senior for 18 points.  Combine that with his eight threes on Friday night in Salina and it's clear that Robertson is on a roll at the right time of the season.  Robertson was aided in the cause by Wade Meyer's 17 points. The Salthawks scored 26 third quarter points to blow the game open. Robertson hit 4 treys in that quarter alone. 

Hutchinson had 12 players see action and 11 scored. The reserves played the entire 4th quarter and Hutchinson won comfortably 75 to 58.

Along with Robertson's 18 and Meyer's 17, the Salthawks got scoring from Terrell King with 8, 6 points each from Nic Lange and Julian Smith. Jay Lewis and Jax Heneha contributed 5 points apiece, Brayden Rodriquez added 4 and the trio Devon Spiller, Dauntay King and Daylee VanSyckle had 2 points each.

Eisenhower was led by senior guards Jaden Roth and Carson Roy who had 16 points and 14 points respectively. Pierce Blue added 7, and Arjay Daracan and Chase George added 5 points a piece.

Hutchinson (15-0) hosts Maize High for homecoming on Friday at the Salthawk Activity Center.
