HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Schmidt Foundation, a foundation focused on communities served by Eagle Communications, contributed $2000 Wednesday to the scholarship fund at Hutchinson Community College. A portion of the funds will go to a HutchCC Presidential Scholar and a portion will go to a HutchCC Leadership Scholar.
"The Presidential and the Leadership program have been designed to attract strong academic students and also students that have strong leadership capabilities," said Cindy Keast with HutchCC.
The program is designed for Kansas high school graduates.
"We provide approximately 165 to 170 scholarships for students," Keast said. "The program started in 1993-94 with approximately 30 students, so you can see how we've grown."
The Foundation has also invested in scholarships in other Eagle communities to help nursing students at NCK-Tech and continues to provide scholarships at Fort Hays State University.
