KIOWA COUNTY —One person died in an accident just after 12:30p.m. Friday in Kiowa County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2009 Toyota Corolla driven by Richard L Whybark, 82, Clarksville, Arkansas, was southbound on U.S. 183 and stopped at the stop sign at U.S. 54. The driver attempted a left turn onto U.S. 54. A westbound 2007 Peterbilt semi struck the Toyota. After impact the semi continued westbound and overturned.
Whybark was pronounced dead at the scene. EMS transported the semi driver Bradley J. Starks, 50, Kingston, Oklahoma, to Kiowa County Hospital. Starks was not wearing a seat belt, according to the KHP.
