HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A consensus was reached by the Board of County Commissioners on Tuesday to have County Counselor Patrick Hoffman bring back a resolution at their next meeting to move their meetings from the 2nd, 4th and 5th Tuesdays of the month to the Wednesdays of those same weeks, starting in July.
"Patrick, our County Counselor, he's in the office three days a week here in Reno County," said County Administrator Randy Partington. "On one of those other days, which is Wednesday right now, he goes and he's the County Counselor for Barton County and I think they wanted to move their meetings."
The commissioners believed that as long as they get some time to shuffle their calendars, that should be fine.
"In talking to Randy, it seems like we think it will work," Hoffman said. "Some people at the county have said maybe it will even be better for the county employees, so if it will work for you guys, it's greatly appreciated by me."
None of the deadlines for agenda items would change for department heads, so that would also allow an extra day for commissioners to ask questions and read the materials prior to their meetings. In particular, there have been occasions when commissioners needed items tabled because of a lack of time to get adequate information. Hopefully, this would alleviate some of that.
