HUTCHINSON, Kan. — David Foster with the Hutchinson YMCA said their first night of Saturday night at the Y this fall on Oct. 14 was a success.
"We had around 90 sixth, seventh and eighth graders at the YMCA on a Saturday evening," Foster said. "They had a great time, got to swim and lift weights and work out in the cardio room and play basketball and dodgeball. It was a great event. We'll be doing that the second Saturday of every month."
Foster also said membership at the Hutchinson Y continues to grow.
"We've been very fortunate to actually grow our membership every month since January," Foster said. "People would assume January would be a big month with New Year's resolutions and things of that nature. Fortunately, we're holding steady at about a little over 4800 total members and continue to grow a little bit each month. That's been a real blessing for us."
Foster also said if your schedule is flexible, there are some times that are a little slower if you want to get a quick workout in.
"We're really busy in the morning through about 11:30, 12:00, the lull, if you could say that, generally is between kind of the lunch hour and about 3:30 p.m. when school gets out. I guess noon to 3:30 p.m. would be a good answer."
The Y is open Monday through Friday from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
