HUTCHINSON, Kan. — USD 308 teacher Amber Carithers, who was recently named the Regional Kansas Teacher of the Year winner from Hutchinson, will be honored by the Kansas State Department of Education Wednesday along with the other members of the 2022 Kansas Teacher of the Year team.

Carithers, an English teacher at Hutchinson High School, was named a Regional Kansas Teacher of the Year finalist in March of 2021. Carithers now serves on the Kansas Teacher of the Year (KTOY) team for 2022, and has spent time this week at the Kansas State Department of Education meeting with Commissioner of Education Dr. Randy Watson and Deputy Commissioner Dr. Brad Neunenswander.

The 2022 KTOY team will be recognized on the Senate floor on Wednesday, and will be addressing the House and Senate Education Committees about their message for education and answering questions about education issues impacting teachers and students.
