HUTCHINSON, Kan. — After robust discussion on Tuesday morning, the Hutchinson City Council voted to move their meetings to 5:30 p.m. on the first and third Tuesdays, starting with their first meeting in September, which would be Sept. 3.

The idea had been floated by Jon Richardson months ago, but the issue was finally put on the agenda, and ultimately Richardson moved to have the meeting time change, Steve Garza seconded the motion and Stacy Goss joined them in voting in favor of the change.

Greg Fast and Scott Meggers voted against the motion.

The hope in moving the meetings is that those who want to talk to the City Council about issues will be able to come to meetings to do that, because they don't have to take time off of work to do so.
